The JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme is nearly 30 years old and has been a key part of the Japanese government's effort to bring native English speakers into classrooms in Japan in order to improve the English language curriculum.  The Greater Cincinnati area has a number of JET Alumni, and we would like to invite them to an informal social gathering to meet other alumni as well as those with an interest in the program.  (All are welcome).

Spouses and other family members welcome.  (Please note that attendees will be asked to cover their own bar/restaurant bills).

Meet two dancers currently with the Cincinnati Ballet:  Chisako Oga (Principal Dancer), and Naomi Tanioka (Apprentice) -- at a special reception prior to the Carmina Burana performance on Saturday, February 10th at the historic and newly-renovated Music Hall in Downtown Cincinnati.

The reception is sponsored by JASGC member Frost Brown Todd and will feature a brief talk and Q&A with Chisako Oga while guests enjoy drinks and light appetizers in the Taft Suite at Music Hall.  Naomi Tanioka will also be at the reception to mingle with guests.  Backstage tours will also be offered on a first-come, first served basis for reception attendees. The reception is free for current JASGC members and their guests included under the same registration.

    See the dancers' bios here.

You can take advantage of a 20% discount on ballet performance tickets (Feb. 8, 9. 10 & 11) using discount code JASGC1718 for any seat you choose. (Please note that tickets must be purchased directly from the Cincinnati Ballet's website and are not included with the reception registration).

    About the Ballet Carmina Burana:

Composer Carl Orff’s unforgettable score comes brilliantly to life in the Cincinnati premiere of Carmina Burana by world-renowned choreographer Nicolo Fonte, complete with members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the voices of the May Festival Chorus. Also on the program is Balanchine’s brilliant Serenade, a piece of ravishing beauty, performed to Tchaikovsky’s lush and romantic Serenade for Strings.
